I’m a young mother blogging from my basement apartment.
Sounds familiar right?
However before you put me in a box with typical ‘Mommy
Blogs,’ take a look. You wont find pictures of my adorable child or questions
about solid foods, naps and Pinterest recipes. I have another blog for that.
Rather, this is my naptime escape to discuss more adult topics like politics,
religion and culture.
Here’s four things
about me that have a huge influence on this blog.
#1 I’m a Mormon.
I grew up in a conservative family that didn’t drink Coke,
who went to church every Sunday and believes we can be a family forever. I’m
proud to be a Christian.
#2 I love politics.
My fascination with our Constitution started in middle school.
I later joined the debate team and I would bring home resolutions to talk over
with my dad at the dinner table. In college I started out with a degree in
international policy, and while I changed directions I maintained my
fascination with statecraft.
#3 I’m in
advertising.
What? One of the most liberal careers in the U.S.? That’s
right, I’m fascinated by pop culture and ‘viral’-ness. I love a great ad
campaign and I find this medium super powerful. I work in account management and social media
consulting.
#4 I’m a mother.
Becoming a mom was a choice. A difficult choice for me, but
the right one. For now, I’ve put what could have been a very illustrious
communications career on hold and I spend most of my time taking care of an
infant. Why? Because I think it’s important.
Have questions? Have topics we should discuss? Let me know
in the comments, I’m up for ideas. Just be aware that I like to think through
what I post, so it may be a little while before you see a response. Just stay
tuned.
